Waste Management Tips
Instead of using plastic bottled mineral water use a filtering system. For water storage it is better to use glass bottles rather than plastic bottles. They can be used repeatedly without the aftertaste caused when repeatedly using plastic bottles and it also create less waste.
Using a fabric bag or a multi-use box to wrap your school sandwich is preferable to using a plastic bag.
Pack your grocery shopping in fabric bags or shopping baskets intended for re-use and not single use plastic bags.
Use multi-use plastic utensils for picnics instead of single use utensils.
Batteries contain toxic metals that may end up in underground water, therefore use rechargeable batteries.
Anyone can make a compost. The basic principle is that anything created by earth needs to return to earth: leaves, branches, fruits, vegetables, wild herbs, chopped grass, nutshells and more. In order to make your own compost, you need to have a separate garbage can at home for organic waste.

Water Saving Tips
Flushing water in the toilet, consumes lots of water. We recommend installing a dual-quantity flushing tank, which is a simple mechanism that separates the quantity required for flushing down solids (9 liters) from the quantity needed to flush down liquids (4.5 liters). By using only 4.5 liters of water a day to flush down liquids, you will save approx. 15 liters of water per person per day!
Watering your private garden during the day wastes a lot of money and is inefficient. Most of the water quickly evaporates in heat and usually doesn't get down to the roots. Moreover, sunrays are much more destructive to plants when they are wet and many plants may be damaged by excess water. Water your garden during the afternoon or evening will save water and will provide your garden with the best possible care.
Close the tap when you brush your teeth, soap yourself in the shower or soap the dishes in the sink.
Wash your car with a bucket not a hose.
You can easily replace your showerhead or hand shower with a water saving showerhead, thus saving 8-10 percent of domestic water consumption.
Preserving the coastal environment
Keep the sea and coast clean. Do not discard waste such as plastic bags, diapers, containers, bottles and packages, since waste can wander around for years until it naturally dissolves or wears out. Do not throw away plastic leftovers into the sea; this type of waste can be deadly to sea turtles, cetaceans such as dolphins and various sea birds, killing them by suffocation.
Driving around the beach with a car hurts animals and plants along the coast. Driving a vehicle on the beach less than 100 meters from the shoreline is prohibited and could lead to the driver being fined. Park near the beach and enjoy a short, healthy stroll.
Children, parents and teachers – help us protect the sea! Initiate a clean up campaign at your school. This will help contribute to preserving the environment by raising the environmental awareness in general and specifically the importance of the beach as a unique natural resource. We recommend coordinating this activity with the local authorities.
